About the FBUI
BETHLEHEM UNIVERSITY IRISH FOUNDATION
A proposal to establish a scholarship fund to provide short term visiting scholarships for staff of Bethlehem University in Palestine to visit Irish universities.
The great hope for Palestine and its peoples must lie in education, as indeed has been the Irish experience, and this fund is directed to help the De La Salle administered Bethlehem University there. Sadly, the recently erected Israeli Wall surrounding the town of Bethlehem and the recent internecine Palestine strife have created a crisis situation in which Bethlehem University is, with great determination, continuing with its academic programmes for the students of the region, irrespective of their religious beliefs or political affiliations.
The Friends of Bethlehem University in Ireland, (FBUI) have established this Foundation which will annually offer a small number of sponsored scholarships to enable academic or administrative staff in Bethlehem University visit an Irish university in order to establish academic links in education, research and/or student exchange.
The FBUI is a Registered Charity in Ireland, (CHY 6868) and is authorized as an “eligible charity” for the purposes of Section 45 of the Finance Act, 2001’s provision of Tax Rebates on donations of €250.00 and over.
