Donations support scholarly endeavour which keeps hope alive in Palestine.

The weak economic situation in the occupied territories creates significant barriers and hardship for those trying to send family members to university – much more so than that experienced by families in a country like Ireland. External financial assistance from donors has allowed many young Palestinians to receive a full third level education experience, who otherwise could not have pursued their higher education in a reputable institution like Bethlehem University. Over 30% of the students receive scholarship assistance every year while all students enrolled enjoy reduced tuition fees.

“Education is a human right with immense power to transform.
On its foundation rest the cornerstones of freedom,
democracy and sustainable human development.”
- Kofi Annan

The staff of Bethlehem University need assistance with career development, not least through pursuing graduate programmes in international universities. Hopefully this activity will regain momentum when Covid-19 travel restrictions abate and Irish universities will host talented visiting academics from Bethlehem University.

“Ní neart go cur le chéile"

The Friends of Bethlehem University in Ireland was able to provide €40,000 in 2021 specifically for scholarship support to students with disabilities. This was matched by €40,000 raised by The Friends of Bethlehem University in Switzerland, in response to an appeal.

“Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” - UN SDG #4

The Friends of Bethlehem University in Ireland acknowledge and appreciate the solidarity, as much as the practical support, that donors like you bring to the courageous community of scholars in Bethlehem University.

Thank you so much!
